This week in Routes News:

  • From June 9, British Airways will no longer be flying between London's Heathrow airport and Luanda, Angola. The company's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will be operating the final flight.


  • From June 12, Hainan Airlines' Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner will take over from the company's Airbus A330-300 connecting Shenzhen with Auckland. The Boeing 787-8 will operate from June 12 to October 30, then Hainan's Boeing 787-9 aircraft will take over from it's smaller relative. The flight leaves Shenzhen on Tuesdays and Saturdays with a next day return from Auckland. The flight will fly with the following schedule:
    HU7931 SZX 16:50-08:00+1 AKL / HU7932 AKL 10:00-18:00 SZX


  • Starting July 17, Ethiopian Airlines will begin flights to Jakarta from Addis Ababa, via Bangkok. The company's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner will operate this service on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays with the following schedule:
    ET628 ADD 00:01-13:20 BKK 14:20-18:05 CGK / ET629 CGK 20:35-00:20+1 BKK 01:45+1-06:15+1 ADD


  • Starting October 15, Delta Air Lines will resume operations between New York JFK and Orange County airport. The route was last served in January 2011. This time around, the route will be operated by a Boeing 737-700 Sundays through Fridays (not Saturday) with the following schedule:
    DL300 JFK 08:30-11:45 SNA / DL300 SNA 12:30-21:00 JFK


  • From October 28, Qatar Airways will be reducing it's weekly flights to Seoul, from Doha. The reduction in service sees the route go from 8-weekly to 7-weekly. Qatar's Boeing 777-300ER operated the extra weekly flight and will continue to operate the other seven flights from October 28.


  • Starting October 28, British Airways will make a return to Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport from Heathrow. This route was last served in June 2003. The Airbus A321-200 will operate Sunday through Friday (not Saturday) with the following schedule:
    BA235 LHR 10:15-17:15 SVO / BA234 SVO 18:35-19:55 LHR


  • Starting November 1, Condor's Boeing 767-300ER will operate between Frankfurt and Kuala Lumpur, instead of previously scheduled Airbus A330 aircraft operated by Thomas Cook Airlines. The Boeing 767 will leave Frankfurt on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with a next day return from Kuala Lumpur. The service will operate with the following schedule:
    DE2358 FRA 11:15-06:35+1 KUL / DE2359 KUL 23:35-06:20+1 FRA


  • From December 1, Cathay Pacific's Boeing 777-300ER will replace their Airbus A330-300 aircraft on the company's Hong Kong to Chennai route. The flight operates daily, with the following schedule:
    CX631 HKG 21:05-00:20+1 MAA / CX632 MAA 02:00-09:35 HKG


  • From March 31, 2019, United Airlines' Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will be taking over the company's San Francisco to Tokyo Narita route. The Boeing 787-9 will be taking over from the company's Boeing 777-200ER. The route will continue to operate daily, with the following schedule:
    UA837 SFO 11:30-14:35+1 NRT / UA838 NRT 17:00-10:25 SFO


  • Starting March 31, 2019, Virgin Atlantic Airways will begin serving Las Vegas, from London's Heathrow airport. The airline's Boeing 787-9 will operate the flight with daily-service on the following schedule:
    VS155 LHR 12:40-15:25 LAS / VS156 LAS 19:05-12:55+1 LHR
