P4-KBB, an Air Astana Airbus A320 skidded off Runway 22, crossed taxiways B and C, and returned to the centreline of the runway due to heavy showers and strong winds in Kazakhstan’s capital city Astana. The aircraft involved in the incident was flying as flight 352 from Shymkent to Astana. A total of 88 passengers and 9 crew members were onboard the 5.1-year-old Airbus A320 aircraft. According to the airline, none of the people onboard were hurt. The plane had to be towed to a parking lot after landing. According to the first inspection of the aircraft, an engine was heavily damaged. The Airport was closed during 1.30pm until 2.10 pm local time due to inclement weather conditions and the incident on the runway. All arriving aircraft during that timeframe diverted to Pavlodar Airport, the departing flight during that timeframe left Astana with major delays.
